Videre Design LLC adds fixed baseline pre-calibrated stereo devices and extra wide variable baseline devices to meet a wide variety of application needs.

Menlo Park, California, September 21, 2007 – Videre Design LLC announced today the availability of a new line of pre-calibrated, rugged stereo devices that are designed for a wide variety of applications.  Fixed baseline models are factory calibrated to offer a true plug and play experience.  And with heavy duty, milled aluminum bodies, the cameras are less susceptible to environmental stress and are able to maintain their calibration over time.

New fixed baseline options fit a wide range of applications. The 6 cm baseline is appropriate for close work such as head tracking and gesture recognition.  The 9 cm and 15 cm baselines are excellent for moderate distances of 15-20 meters indoors or outdoors for such applications as people tracking and obstacle detection and avoidance.  The 30 cm baseline is useful for long distance sensing, such as outdoor scene reconstruction and obstacle detection from vehicles.  The new extra-long variable baseline from 18-60 cm works well for long-range sensing experiments.

Improving the Out-of-the-Box Experience
With factory calibration, the time and hassle of set-up is reduced.  The cameras can be used immediately. The increased rigidity of the industrial-strength milled aluminum alloy frame and heavy-duty extra-long variable baseline rig ensure that the calibration is maintained.

Offering a Wide Range of Customizable Stereo Devices
With fixed baseline options of 6 cm, 9 cm, 15 cm and 30 cm, variable baselines from either 5-20 cm and 18-60 cm, and high-quality miniature and C-mount lenses choices in a variety of focal lengths, the perfect stereo device can be selected to meet every application.

Pricing and Availability
The STOC, STH-DCSG, and STH-MDCS fixed and variable baseline models are now available. Due to efficiencies in design and advances in the use of off-the-shelf components, Videre Design offers stereo devices at very attractive prices.  In keeping with Videre Design’s vision – compact, inexpensive, powerful – these cameras costs less than other stereo devices currently on the market and offer better features.
